Instructions

Often the rhetoric driving instructions, technology, and usability is all but invisible to its users. These assignments seek to make that rhetoric visible by having students work to produce it. Instruction assignments explicitly address the role of audience and require students to delve into the specific rhetorical situation that prompts the need for instructions. They can also help writers to understand the notion of “reader friendly” text and thus produce it.
